Dr & Hon Major Deepak Rao is a Multidimensional personality – A Medical Doctor, An Author, a scholar of the orient, samurai, zen & taoistic ideologies, Grandmaster, Pragmatic Philosopher, Motivational speaker & a Military Trainer – a Honorary officer of the elite Parachute Regiment.


Military Trainer:
Dr & Hon Major Deepak Rao is an Indian Army TA Hon. Officer, one of only 6 Indians knighted by President of India with Honorary Rank Award for his outstanding contribution in training to fight terrorism, along with Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Superstar Mohanlal & Olympian Abhinav Bindra. Dr & Hon Major Deepak Rao has also received the World Peace Award.


Physician:
Dr. & Hon Major Deepak Rao is a practicing general physician. His medical training is from King Edward Memorial, an elite government hospital giving him experience with all types of patients. He has studied Pharmacology from HarvardX Medical School and Lifestyle Medicine from Doane University. Dr. & Hon Major Deepak Rao has qualified in certified courses on Cancer from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Kidney Transplant from Leiden University, Netherlands. He is also a certified specialist in 'End of Life Care' from Pasadena, California. He has undertaken Disaster and Emergency Medicine Training Program from StanfordX, making his knowledge up to date from around the world. To increase his knowledge, he researched the effect of lifestyles on health - studying exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress management and other parameters. With the able supervision of Dr. Manu Kothari, Prof Emeritus KEM hospital, his guide, his research was approved for a doctorate in Alternative Medicine. He also completed an online COVID-19 certification for Health workers from Stanford Medicine to keep abreast of modern advances in epidemiology.


Dr. & Hon Major Deepak Rao specializes in treating Interventional dilemmas, chronic diseases and terminal patient care. He has participated in Cardiac Rehabilitation - Mayo Clinic Model and certified in the CRFC certification (Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Foundation Certification) from ICCPR - International Council of Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation. He has an ardent interest in Sports Medicine & has attained a fellowship in Sports Rehab. He has completed a certified study in Exercise Physiology from Stanford Medicine & Lifestyle Medicine from Doane University. Personally, He has recovered from Slip Disc, Knee joint ligament tears, hypertension, asthma, peptic ulcers, kidney stones, depression without surgery or radical drug therapy. Dr. & Hon Major Deepak Rao is an author of 10 published books on a variety of subjects ranging from Political science to Philosophy, Military Training, Martial Arts & Medicine. He has gifted five special edition books on Military training to the Indian armed forces and police. Dr & Hon Major Deepak Raos book “Encyclopaedia of Close Combat Ops” has found a proud place in FBI, INTERPOL, SWAT & Buckingham Palace Libraries as the only Indian training book on fighting terror.


Oriental Scholar:
Dr. & Hon Major Deepak Rao is one of India's few experts on Zen, Samurai Tradition & Oriental Philosophy. He has studied Religion & Religious Literacy from Harvard University. Dr. & Hon Major Deepak Rao is also certified in Buddhist Scriptures from Harvard University. He has authored a book on Zen Mind called Mind Range.


Dr. & Hon Major Deepak Rao has trained for 20 years and has travelled all over the world to various Soto temples of Nepal, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia and Shinto temples of Japan. He has had dokusans & private sessions with many Buddhist Masters & Teachers of current era. Dr. & Hon Major Deepak Rao has trained in a variety of meditation techniques at well known Soto & Rhinzai Sects. During a Dokusan with Venerable Roshi, Dr & Hon Major Deepak Rao impressed him with his understanding of Mind and was presented with a personal copy of the revered Collection of Koans endorsed with the Masters personal seal to show his appreciation. Dr & Hon Major Deepak Rao has completed The Six Paramhitas course from San Francisco Center and also a course in Taoistic Meditation. He has a diploma in Buddhism from Center of Excellence, UK.


In his teachings, he blends oriental samurai ideology of zen in the martial arts with modern day psychoanalysis and psychotherapy. He is certified in CBT i.e. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from Beck Institute USA & completed a course in Logic & Critical Thinking from University of Queensland. Dr. & Hon Major Deepak Rao is certified in Freudian Psychoanalysis from Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, California USA. He has trained in Existential Therapy at University of London, attending workshops under world authorities like Prof. Mick Cooper. Dr. & Hon Major Deepak Rao is a member of American Psychological Association, International Society of Applied Psychoanalysis and a fellow of the Royal Society of Health UK.

Dr & Hon Major Deepak Rao is one of India’s top motivational speakers and corporate trainer on Military motivation. He is one of the few faculty in India who conducts seminars & workshops on Sun Tzu’s Art of War, Commando Ideology, Mindfulness etc.


Director of NGO:
Dr & Hon Major Deepak Rao has an NGO, The Unconventional Commando Combat Academy also known as UCCA NGO is a non-governmental organization of veteran trainers, honorary officers, combat instructors from the Indian Armed Forces, police, and accomplished specialists. The UCCA NGO is involved in voluntarily contributing to the Indian forces in the area of research and modernization of counter terrorism and commando training.


Their primary areas of research and training are close quarter battle, unarmed combat, reflex shooting, small team tactics, room intervention, live round tactical simulation, and explosives detection. Their research is published as UCCA NGO training manuals and gifted to various Indian force headquarters for their exclusive use.


It was founded by Dr & Hon Major Dr. Deepak Rao. Dr. Rao has the distinction of being 1 of 5 Indians to be commissioned into the territorial Army along with the likes of Kapil Dev, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Abhinav Bindra.


The UCCA NGO Director were appointed as resource personnel by the Ministry of Home Affairs under direct approval of the Home Secretary of India for the purpose of training all states.


The UCCA NGO helped make significant contributions to the Indian Forces via the training imparted by the Dr & Hon Major Deepak Rao. UCCA NGO research led to the creation of a new military close quarter battle art called Advanced Commando Combat System (ACCS) popular for its innovative method of close quarters shooting called Rao System of Reflex Fire.


This technique was taught at the Corps battle schools of the Indian Army in 2006-2008. ACCS was taught to various elite forces for 25 years from 1994 without compensation.


In 2011, The Executive Director UCCA NGO, Dr & Hon Major Major Deepak Rao's contribution to the Indian Armed Forces was recognized by commissioning him into the Indian Army Parachute Regiment and making him one of the Brand Ambassadors of the Territorial Army & Indian Army, with the rank of Honorary Major by the President of India. In addition, the UCCA NGO President received Nari Shakti National Award,one of the highest awards in the democratic Republic of India from the President of India, recognizing their selfless service.
